Medigus is a pioneer developer of a unique proprietary endoscopy system for the treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), one of the most common chronic diseases in the western world. The endoscopy system – the SRS,  combines a miniaturized video camera, a surgical stapler and ultrasonic sights for alignment  in a single instrument. The specialized flexible endoscope will allow gastroenterologists and surgeons to perform a true partial anterior fundoplication endoluminally. Since the current standard practice for carrying out a fundoplication procedure is open or minimally-invasive (laparoscopic) surgery, performing a completely non-invasive procedure will revolutionize the treatment of GERD. It will also eliminate the need for anesthesia. The success rate of the SRS in treating GERD is expected to match that of existing ‘gold-standard' surgical procedures, but with a far simpler, and less expensive procedure.
